Art is in My Blood
In the early days when we were raising our young family, I became a sewaholic! Soon this passion developed into Corie’s Costume Rentals, and in the small town of Williams Lake, I gained some fame. In the 80’s we moved to Abbotsford and entered the printing business. My creative flair then took the shape of desktop publishing. In the following years I pursued crafting part time, creating my own style of 'Olde World' Santas that were a hit at many local craft fairs. I also donated my time to sewing children's clothing for disaster relief causes. In 2001 we moved to quaint little community of Yarrow. Here amidst the valley landscape, and the shores of the Vedder River, we found Peace in a slower pace of life and my urge to create was once again ignited. Having always had an interest in ceramics, I signed up for classes at Rainforest Pottery, in Yarrow. Under the guidance of my pottery teacher, Vijaya Morrison, my craft took shape. I seem to do equal amounts of wheel throwing and hand building, and many of my pieces are a combination of both techniques. My signature pieces include pottery birdhouses, and free form dishes with beautiful drift wood handles. Many of these bowls are glass infused. Each and every birdhouse and dish is a unique creation. Proudly, my work is “Inspired by the Originality of Nature”. |
